Abstract
738,120. Cathode material and processing. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Sept. 4, 1953 [Sept. 24, 1952], No. 24545/53. Drawings to Specification. Class 39 (1). A secondary-electron-emissive material comprises a compound of antimony and palladium activated by an alkaline earth metal; this has a low vapour pressure at high temperatures up to 500‹ C. necessary in processing image dissectors with multiplier stages. The compound may be either Sb 2 Pd or Sb 3 Pd 5 and deposited by evaporation in a separate chamber and activated at 150-165‹ C in situ. The electrodes can also be used in amplifying electron multipliers.
