Abstract

736,016. Magnetic amplifiers. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. April 23, 1953 [July 21, 1952], No. 18386/52. Class 40 (4). The load windings of a transductor constitute two opposite arms of a bridge circuit which gives a resultant output through the balance arm when a D.C. signal is applied to the control windings. Two transductor cores 1, 2 are provided, each having a control winding 15, 16 and load windings 3, 9 and 4, 10 which are energized from an A.C. source 5, 6, windings 3, 4 and 9, 10 being connected in series to comprise two opposite bridge arms. The other arms are constituted by reactor windings 7, 11 which have a common magnetic core 8, and the balance arm comprises a rectifier 12 and D.C. output terminals 13, 14. The transductor cores 1, 2 may form the outer limbs of a common three-limbed core which has a single control winding on the centre limb. Adjustment of the bridge balance for zero signal input may be effected by the use of tappings on the various windings, by the use of series resistances, or by the provision of air gaps in the cores.
