705,678. Magnetic amplifiers. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 8, 1952 [Feb. 26, 1951], No. 4638/51. Class 40 (4) Each amplifier of a pair of magnetic amplifiers arranged for push-pull operation has two A.C. output windings which constitute opposite arms of a bridge circuit, a common load L being connected in the balance arm of the bridge so that it carries current only when the magnetisations of the two amplifiers are rendered unequal by a control current. As shown, each amplifier has two cores C1, C2 and C3, C4, and each output winding comprises two paralleled coils such as OW1, OW2 which provide auto-excitation through oppositelydirected rectifiers R1, R2. Bias windings CWC may be provided and the control windings CWA, CWB may be arranged in the manner described in Specification 685,320. It is stated that the arrangement may be used as the final amplifying stage in the cascaded amplifiers described in the prior Specification.
