Abstract

823,693. Magnetic amplifiers. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. Dec. 18, 1956 [Dec. 23, 1955], No. 27235/55. Class 40 (9). Alternating-current control and feedback signals are applied to the control windings of a push-pull magnetic amplifier through common rectifiers. Alternating-current input signals from a previous push-pull stage are applied to terminals 11, 12 and 13, 14. Terminals 11, 12 are connected through feedback winding 21B on cores 1B, 2B to a rectifier 20A feeding the control winding 19A on cores 1A, 2A. Terminals 13, 14 and feedback winding 21A are similarly connected through rectifier 20B to control winding 19B. The feedback windings are excited by transformer action as described in Specification 818,057. The main windings 10, feedback windings 14, 15 and biasing windings 16 are arranged substantially as described in Specifications 659,762 and 803,341. In a single amplifying element, equivalent to one component of the push-pull circuit, the feedback may be applied to the alternating-current side of a rectifier in the input circuit thereof.
