Abstract
789,218. Electric correspondence control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 7, 1955 [April 9, 1954], No. 10536/54. Class 40 (1). Apparatus for producing a signal indicative of the displacement between two relatively movable members comprises two similar transformers 1, 2 (Fig. 1), mounted on the one member, with their primary windings in series and their secondary windings in series opposition, so that when armatures 5, 6 attached to the second member are symmetrically arranged with respect to the cores 3, 4 of the transformers 1, 2, the output signal from the opposed secondary windings is zero, but when the second member is displaced an output signal is obtained whose magnitude and phase are, within limits of movement, indicative of the magnitude and sense of the relative displacement between the two members. The cores 3, 4 may be U-shaped, and only one armature may be used.
