Abstract

759,041. Electric measuring apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Sept. 24, 1954 [Oct. 6, 1953], No. 27420/53. Addition to 677,355. Class 40(1) Apparatus for measuring linear displacement by the differential variation of the inductance of two similar coils by a movable core member attached to a feeler comprises an A.C. bridge circuit (Fig. 3) wherein the two coils 1, 2 form adjacent arms, and whose unbalance current flows through the moving coil 7 of a wattmetertype instrument (Fig. 2) with no restoring torque, the bridge voltage being obtained from a coil 9 coupling with the field winding 8 of the wattmeter, so that the moving coil 7 takes up an angular position indicative of the bridge unbalance and therefore of the linear displacement of the core and the feeler.
