Tell-tale apparatus. -Apparatus for reproducing mechanical movements comprises a constantcurrent resistance in series with a slider which proportions the current across a further resistance, the whole of which is always in circuit, one side of the further resistance including the current coil of an indicating, recording, or integrating instrument. In one arrangement, Fig. 1, an iron-hydrogen resistance R<1> is. connected in series from the main H with a constant resistance R<2>, which is tapped on to an invariable resistance W. The ends A, B of the resistance W are connected to the point E which is joined to the other main H<1>. The instrument C, having a resistance VV<1>, is located in the branch A, E. In a modification, the instrument may have a voltage coil which is connected across the resistance R<2>. The variable resistance W is preferably of the wound drum type with sliding contact, or if the drum is rotated the current indicated or measured is proportional to the angular movement of the drum.
