Abstract

800,655. Multi-range measuring instruments. SIEMENS & HALSKE A.G. Nov. 30, 1955 [Dec. 2, 1954], No. 34253/55. Class 37. In a moving iron meter, a single scale is used with a number of voltage and current ranges. The various current ranges are provided by coils W1 ... W5, wound one over the other, with the high resistance winding W1 in the centre of the coil system 9. The voltage ranges are obtained by the use of series resistor R3 ... R6, the lower ranges being obtained by employing resistors R1, R2 in series with the lower resistance windings. Fine adjustment of the full deflection for a given range is obtained by the use of parallel resistors. Selection of the various ranges is obtained by the rotation of knurled disc 8 which also operates an indicator on the scale of the instrument, Fig. 1 (not shown).
