736,219. Electric measurement of temperature. LICENTIA PATENT-VERWALTUNGS GES. March 3, 1952 [Jan. 12, 1952], No. 5516/52. Class 40 (1). [Also in Group XXXIX] Fig. 7 shows a self-balancing potentiometer for recording temperature. A thermo-element 17 is connected through the moving coil D of a measuring instrument between one end 18 and the movable tap 19 of a potentiometer slide wire 20, which is fed with constant current from a battery 21 through a resistance 22. One pair of coils 8 of a Ferraris drum motor 7 and the winding W are connected to an A.C. supply 23. A controlling coil T in the field winding W and mechanically connected to the coil D (see Group XXXIX) is connected to the grid of a valve 2, in the anode circuit of which is the other pair of coils 9 of the motor 7. The motor, through gearing 24, 25 turns the tap 19 of the potentiometer, and the pointer 26 provided with a recording pen, relatively to a scale 27, until the potentiometer is balanced.
