[Also in Division G3] A variable speed controller 1 for an electrical drive comprises a transformer in which the coupling between cores 2, 3, carrying primary and secondary windings 4, 5 respectively, can be varied by moving the parts 6, 7 of the non- magnetic housing apart on guide pins 8, 9 against springs 13 by a foot-operated rod linkage and bracket 21. This transformer supplies a proportion of a reference voltage to a control circuit (31) for an electromagnetic clutch (32) and brake (33) (see Division G3).
