Abstract
727,929. Electric correspondence control systems. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION.. Nov. 11, 1953 [Dec. 23, 1952], No. 32592/52. Class 40 (1). An inductive pick-off device for producing a signal proportional to angular or linear displacement comprises a multipole stator with a winding on each pole, connected in a bridge circuit, and a rotor which, in the zero position, produces balance in the bridge circuit, but with displacement, produces an unbalance current whose magnitude and phase is indicative of the magnitude and direction of the displacement. As shown (Fig. 1) for angular displacements, a four-pole circular stator 11 with windings a, b, c, d connected in a bridge circuit, has a centrally located, two-pole rotor 16. In a modification only two, diametrically-opposite, poles of the stator are used, with two external similar chokes to complete the bridge, and the rotor has only one pole extending over 180 degrees. As shown (Fig. 3) for linear displacements, a fourpole rectangular stator 31 is associated with a four-pole rectangular rotor 36.
