733,744. Looms with stationary weft supply. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. Aug. 21, 1953 [Aug. 27, 1952], No. 23148/53. Class 142(2). In a loom wherein gripper shuttles 14 are picked in rotation and returned to the picking side of the loom by a conveyer 9, wefts being selectively presented to the gripper shuttles, at least part of the path of movement of the thread to be gripped or of the path of the thread transfer device lies within the space swept out by the opened jaws 76, 77 of the shuttle moving into picking position. A shuttle 14 is carried by the conveyor 9 to a lifting device 25 which is moved by a cam-operated link 52 to a horizontal position in which the gripper shuttle is picked. The jaws 76, 77 of the shuttle are arranged to open before the lifting device 25 begins to move to the horizontal transfer and picking position. Horizontally disposed thread transfer devices 26a ... 26d are mounted upon a member 27 which is rotated to bring the selected thread into position for transfer to the shuttle ; the devices 26a ... 26d are movable longitudinally for retracting the newly severed end of the inserted weft thread. Means are provided for locking the member 27 in any position in which a transfer device 26a ... 26d is in its transfer position.
