Abstract

To vary the beat-up position of the reed in a gripper shuttle loom weaving terry fabric, the reed and the shuttle guide are mounted on a shaft in such a way that they can be moved bodily backwards and forwards while still performing the same angular oscillation with the shaft. The bodily movement is effected by toggle links which are aligned for beating-up the fast pick, and are broken for the two loose picks. The toggle links are operated by a cam rotating at one-third of the loom speed, but can also be kept aligned by the pattern mechanism for weaving zones without pile.
