733,579. Rotary pumps. THOMPSON PRODUCTS, Inc. June 3, 1953, No. 15321/53. Class 110 (2). A rotary pump of the flexible vane type comprises a tapered cam-shaped pumping chamber 14 of fixed dimensions disposed between plates 34, 36 of cartridge brass. The sealing means comprises a stationary cup 30 positioned against a shoulder 11c of the casing, a flanged ring 31 of resilient material, carried by the cup, and a spring-loaded packing 33 urged against. a bushing 29. A rubber rotor 17 is moulded or cemented on the bushing 29 which in turn constitutes a press fit on the rotor shaft 28. The end of the bushing 29 may be screwthreaded to facilitate withdrawal of the shaft 28 which is journalled in a ball bearing assembly 27. The liquid is discharged into the turbulent zone 20a of a standpipe 20, thence over a baffle 22, provided for de-aerating purposes, to a quiescent zone 20b having a discharge port 21. The pump is provided with a drain plug 24 and recirculating passages 36a, , 37, Fig. 4 (not shown). The body portion 11 and the cover 12 of the pump are cast from aluminium and interconnected by a bolted flange connection.
