536,916. Centrifugal pumps. JOHNSON & SONS, Ltd., C. H., HARTLEY, J. A., and PHILIPPOVIC, J. W. Feb. 8, 1940, No. 2427. [Class 110 (i)] In a self-priming centrifugal pump leakage from the delivery to the inlet side b<1> is prevented by a ring b<5> of antifriction metal let into a groove b<3> in the casing and pressed against the edges of the impeller blades a<1> by a backing b<4> of sponge rubber &c. The shaft is sealed by a ring a<6> of rubber &c. between the back of the impeller and a flanged ring a4 slidable on the boss a<2> of the impeller. The ring a<4> presses on an antifriction metal ring c<1> backed by a rubber washer C<2>.
