Abstract

535,747. Centrifugal pumps. WARMAN, C. H. Nov. 15. 1939, No. 30094. Convention date, Jan. 10. [Class 110 (i)] In a centrifugal pump, the intake 24 and the pump chamber are lined with renewable resilient material 14, 18, and a subsidiary impeller 27, is provided in a chamber round the main impeller shaft 12 to prevent leakage between the liner 14 and the impeller, boss. A sealing disc 28 of an elastic material prevents leakage along the shaft and is forced inwards by spring 30 and collar 29 against an annular flange on the impeller 27, except when the shaft is rotating. Lateral vanes 21 on the impeller 19 prevent leakage back to the intake.
