Abstract

818,091. Rotary pumps. MUNRO, R., and KINGSBURY, W. G. Oct. 2, 1957 [July 2, 1956], No. 20405/56. Class 110 (2). A rotary pump. Fig. 1, comprises a flexible belt 7 having pocket-defining serrations 10, a driving pulley 6 therefor and a freely mounted pulley 5, the pulley 5 being provided with a port 8 enabling communication between the pockets in the V-belt and an outlet port 9. In a modification the belt is held stationary and used in association with three pulleys, one of which is reciprocated as a movable jockey along one run of the belt. Alternatively, three delivery pulleys may be mounted on a common frame which is adapted to rotate inside the belt. In a final modification, a discharge member 20, Fig. 5, is fitted between the parallel runs of the belt and terminates adjacent two non-ported pulleys, the liquid being discharged through bores 25, 26 communicating with a passage in the pump casing. A jockey arrangement is also provided to keep the belt tightly on the pulleys, see also Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown).
