Abstract

1,271,371. Rotary pumps. CHAN YUEN-LIK. Nov.27, 1969 [Jan. 7, 1969], No.950/69. Heading F1F. A rotary pump particularly for pumping water, comprises a cylindrical chamber 10, Fig. 2, having an inlet port 16 and an outlet port 17, or vice versa and closed at its ends by plates 11, 12, Fig. 1, and a pumping element 19 of smaller diameter operatively associated with a member 20 disposed in a recess 18 in the peripheral chamber wall between the inlet and outlet. The pumping element is supported on an eccentric 22 carried by a driveshaft 15 bearingly supported in the plates 11, 12. The element 19 and member 20 are made of natural or synthetic rubber or resilient plastics material. Grooves 25, 26 in the end-plates leading from the ports 16, 17 communicates with axiallyextending grooves 23 to lubricate the bearings. Fins 27 on the periphery of the element 19 improve operative engagement between the element 19 and member 20. In another embodiment, the member 20 may be formed integral with the element 19 and an enlarged head thereof may slide relative to a radial slot in the chamber 10.
