Abstract

815,501. Gear pumps. PLESSEY CO. Ltd. May 9, 1955 [April 12, 1954], No. 10663/54. Class 110 (2). The gears of a gear pump are flanked by fluidpressure loaded side plates 14 and are journalled in bearing bushes 9 which are held against rotation by keys 12 fitted into slots formed in plates 11. Each chamber A is divided into two chambers 15, 16 by a reinforced flexible ring 19 which is supported by plates, see Fig. 3 (not shown). Low- and high-pressure fluid is fed to the chambers 16, 15, through ports formed in the supporting plates, each side plate 14 being suitably apertured for the passing of said fluid, see Fig. 5 (not shown). Each plate 11 is also provided with a groove for feeding low-pressure fluid to the helical groove 24 in the bushes 9. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the plates 11 are dispersed with the bushes 9 being received in bores formed in the end covers and keyed thereto.
