Abstract
726,991. Gas turbine plant. AKT.-GES BROWN, BOVERI, & CIE. March 25, 1953 [March 25, 1952], No. 8276/53. Class 110 (3). [Also in Group XIII] In a gas turbine plant combined with a blast furnace, the exhaust gases of the gas turbine are at least partly used for preheating the air supplied to the combustion chamber of the gas turbine, for preheating the blast furnace gases which are burnt in the blast heaters and as combustion air in the blast heaters. The gas turbine plant shown has compressors 1, 3 driven by gas turbines 7, 10 with an intercooler 2 between the compressors and a reheat chamber 8 between the turbines. The exhaust gases from the turbine 10 are divided at 14, a part flows through the heater 4, where the air supplied by the compressors is heated before entering the combustion chamber 5, and part flows to the blast heater 15. The second part is again divided, part passes through a valve 21 and is used as combustion air in the heater 15 and the remainder passes through a valve 22 to a heater 18 in which the blast furnace gas burnt in the blast heater 15 is heated. Valves 24, 25 control the flow of blast to the blast furnace 17. In a modification, the whole of the exhaust gases from the turbine 10 pass through the heater 4 and are then divided, part passes to atmosphere and part is fed to a fan which supplies the blast heater 15.
