Classes 110(1) and 110(3) In a gas turbine plant comprising a compressor feeding preheated air to a combustion chamber supplying a gas turbine driving the compressor in which the air is preheated by the turbine exhaust gases in a heat exchanger, hot air is bled from the circuit after the heat exchanger and passed through a turbine on the gas turbine-compressor shaft having means for varying its intake capacity before being used in a hot air consumer. Air compressed in the compressor 1 is heated in. an exhaust gas heat exchanger 2 and then divided. Part flows through a combustion chamber 3 to a turbine 4 which drives the compressor 1 and then flows through the heat exchanger 2. The remainder passes through a turbine 5 and a pipe 9 to a hot air consumer. The turbine 5 has adjustable guide vanes or, as shown, groups of nozzle valves 6. To prevent surging of the compressor 1 on reduction of demand for hot air, a valve 8 is provided to allow some of the hot air to enter the turbine 4. A controller 10 controls the valves 6, 8 and the fuel control valve 11 according to the pressure or quantity of air in the pipe 9.
