Abstract
725,012. Mineral-mining machines. STAMICARBON N.V. April 15, 1953 [April 18, 1952], No. 10307/53. Class 68(1). In a mineral-mining conveyer-cutter assembly, a cutting machine 15 is drawn along a mine face parallel to a conveyer 7 by a cable or chain 14 wound on a haulage drum or wheel 10 that is freely mounted on a driven shaft 4 carrying the chain sprockets 5 of the conveyer, the drum being coupled to said shaft by a planetary gear train. The planetary gear train consists of a sun pinion 8, rotating with the shaft 4, and planet wheels 9 that are rotatably mounted in the drum 10 and mesh with an internal gear 11 on a brake drum 12 controlled by a brake band 13. When the brake drum is held stationary the drum is rotated and the cutting machine is drawn towards the driving mechanism.
