Abstract
724,688. Cable end sleeves. TELEGRAPH CONSTRUCTION & MAINTENANCE CO., Ltd. Feb. 27, 1953 [Feb. 27, 1952], No. 5616/53. Class 36. A termination i for a cable having a metallic screen c, comprises a mass of dielectric moulded to extend partly or wholly over an exposed section of the conductor insulation band to surround completely the end of the screen c and other exposed metallic parts at the end of the screen, such as a metal ring or stress cone f. The termination may be made from polythene, wax or a resin capable of being hardened and may be cylindrical or conically tapered at its inner end. Alternatively it may be conically tapered at both ends as shown. It may enclose part of the bared conductor a and part of the cable sheath d. Each core of a multicore cable may be provided with a separate termination, or they may be enclosed in a common termination k (Fig. 9).
