Abstract

980,381. Electrostatic screens for couplings. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. May 17, 1961 [June 14, 1960], No. 20803/60. Heading H2E. The screening wires 12 surrounding an electric cable 11 are terminated by fitting a flanged ferrule 14 over the end of the cable 11, folding the wires 12 over the outside of the ferrule 14 and clamping them thereon by an outer ferrule 15. The ferrules 14 and 15 are each made of conductive material. The ferrule 14 has a flange 14a over which the outer ferrule 15 is crimped (Fig. 5, not shown). The termination is enclosed in a P.V.C. sheath. If the screening is braided it is first combed out into the individual strands. If the screening is to be connected to an adjacent screening one of the wires 12<SP>1</SP> after being laid back across the flange are then brought forward again as shown.
