715,267. Promoting water circulation in forced-flow steam boilers. DALIN, D.. Nov. 16, 1950 [Nov. 19, 1949]. No. 28073/50. Class 123(2) Steam in the downcomer or downcomers 1 of a forced - circulation steam boiler is removed by an evacuating pipe 4, Fig. 1, which extends from the downcomer adjacent the circulating pump 3 to the steam space 5 of the usual steam-and-water drum 2 and is connected to said downcomer at spaced intervals by pipes 6. Alternatively the evacuating pipe 4 is disposed coaxially within the downcomer and is provided with openings at spaced intervals along its length, as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 12, this latter Figure illustrating, full lines, a modification in which an external evacuating pipe 4 is connected to a water space of the drum 2 defined by the end of the drum and a partition 16 therein.
