Abstract
713,801. Reciprocating pumps. PORSCHE, F. Feb. 15, 1952 [April 21, 1951], No. 4077/52. Class 102 (1). A reciprocating pump for supplying lubricant to an engine comprises a cylinder 3 formed in a part of the engine casing 2 and containing two pistons 4, 5. The piston 4 acts as the pump piston and is actuated by a cam 9, formed on the crankshaft 10, against the loading of a spring 8. The piston 4 is guided in a bore 11 in a projection 12 of the casing. The piston 5 acts as a slide valve controlling the discharge port 20 and is loaded by a spring 17; the abutment plate 16 limits the upward movement of the piston 5. A suction valve 14 is carried by the piston 5 and is loaded by a spring 15 and controls the flow through the bore 13. The piston 5 also acts as an accumulator piston when the pressure in the discharge rises.
