Cam-actuated pumps; auxiliary actuating-gear; springs; stroke, varying; indicating action of; pumps in series; combined fixed and moving cylinder pumps; regulating by secondary piston reciprocating in pump barrel; Suction reservoirs; valves, arrangement of.-A lubricating-pump comprises a plunger 7, actuated by a cam 10 and having a chamber 11, in which slides a second plunger 12. The plunger 7 delivers through a port 24 to a sight feed 25, from which the oil passes to an inlet port 21 controlled by the piston 7. On the delivery stroke of the plunger 7, the piston 12 is forced back against a spring 19 by the liquid pressure in chamber 11, and the oil which had entered the space 26 through a port 23 on the suction stroke is delivered through the port 24 to the sight feed, while the liquid in the space 11 is delivered to the parts to be lubricated through ports in the plunger 7 and barrel 5. The inward stroke of the plunger 12 is adjusted by means of a screwed rod 14 carrying a head 15 engaging the plunger. The cam spindle 4 is actuated from the engine through a spring clutch, and may carry a second spring clutch to prevent backward movement of the spindle and enable the spindle to be operated by means of a hand-wheel.
