486,740. Reciprocating pumps. JUNKERS FLUGZEUG - UND - MOTORENWERKE AKT.-GES. Jan. 25,1938, No. 2385. Convention. date, Jan. 27, 1937. [Class 102 (i)] Oscillating cylinder pumps ; lubricating reservoirs.-Comprises means for preventing the return flow of liquid from a crank case containing oil under pressure, and means for compensating for change of volume in the crank case due to the piston motion of benzine &c. pumps connected with the crank case. The pump cylinders oscillate, and the pistons are connected to opposed cranks on a shaft 4. The inlet and outlet passages 11, 12 are controlled by the cylinders. The side member 3 of the casing is provided with an extension 16 containing a chamber connected to the force-feed oil pipe 20 and with two passages 21, 22, leading to the crank case 10. A spring- pressed piston 25 mounted in the casing, controls the passage 22, and has a seat 26 which may engage a seat 31 around the outlet 18. When the crank case is empty, the piston 25 closes the passage 18. When pressure oil is forced into the passage 18, the piston 25 is moved to open the passage 23 and the crank case is filled. If during the running of the pump the crank-case pressure increases, liquid is forced back into the pipe 20, the piston 25 is raised and the passage 22 is closed. A reduction of crank-case capacity is balanced by a downmovement of the piston 25.
