Abstract
711,589. Forcing liquids by gaseous pressure. ALLEN, S. E. Sept. 25, 1952 [Sept. 25, 1951], No. 24080/52. Classes 8 (2) and 102 (2). [Also in Group XXI] In a fire-extinguisher in which liquid is expelled from a metal container 2 by gas released from a metal cartridge 4, the cartridge is electrically insulated from the container by a non- conducting bush 40 arranged between a skirt 11 on the closure member 3 and a member 26 into which the cartridge is screwed. A sealing disc 29 held in place by a ring nut 30 is broken by a spring-raised puncturing member 5 operated by a knob 15. In another construction, Fig. 3, the cartridge is carried by a member 340 co-operating with a body 314 to secure the unit so formed to the closure member 303, an insulating gasket 351 and instruction disc 354 being provided. Modifications of this are described in Specification 711,588.
