[Also in Group XXI] In a fire extinguisher in which an extinguishing liquid is forced from a container 2, the closure for the container comprises an elliptical or other elongated plate 6 held by a nut 11 and a spider or bridge 10 against the inner surface around an elliptical or like opening 5 near the bottom of the container. The plate 6 has a channel-shaped flange 20 containing a rubber strip 12 which engages with a flange around the opening 5, and it carries a dip tube 8, a discharge hose 15, and a perforator 17 for a diaphragm 13.
