[Also in Group XI] A pulverulent-fuel cyclone furnace has a burner formed with a peripheral inlet 39 for the fuel and primary air, the peripheral wall 36 of the burner being formed about the burner axis O as a scroll defined by a swinging radius vector whose angle increases with its increase in length in a logarithmic or substantially logarithmic manner. The line of intersection of the wall 36 with a plane at right angles to the burner axis is defined by the formula r=e, where r is the increase in radius above a minimum radius R at an angle from the location of the minimum radius and a is a constant. The wall 36 comprises an outer metal plate against which is assembled an inner wear-resisting liner formed in removable sections. Specifications 598,141 and 598,142 are referred to.
