719,261. Cyclone furnaces. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. June 4, 1952 [June 4, 1951], No. 14072/52. Class 51 (1) Combustion apparatus includes a cyclone furnace 1 with a substantially horizontal axis and a secondary furnace chamber 7 disposed in the gas flow path between the cyclone furnace and a radiation chamber 26, the wall 63 of the secondary chamber opposite the outlet 6 from the cyclone furnace being an accessible outside wall. The wall 63 is provided with an opening 13, closed by a door, opposite each cyclone furnace, the embodiment described comprising a row of four cyclone furnaces. In a modification a duct below each of two cyclone furnaces leads from a common secondary chamber to a common radiation chamber adjacent the rear ends of the cyclone furnaces.
