Class 17(2) A sole blank is channelled or skived around at least a portion of its marginal edge to form a relatively thin edge portion 12 which is trimmed to leave a portion of less width. A generally triangular strip 15 of leather or other material is fastened to the edge of this narrower portion to follow the contour and a trimming strip 18, of imitation leather or natural or synthetic resin is then applied in the channel and over the strip 15 as shown. If desired the sole blank may be trimmed around its lower edge portion to be flush with the outer face of the strip 18. A raised platform may be provided on the underside of the sole blank.
