707,839. Stands. SEIFERT, K. June 18, 1952 [June 23, 1951], No. 15354/52, Class 52(3) A telescopic leg for a stand having a clamp coupling operated by ground pressure comprises an upper tube 1 and a lower tube 2 with a head 3 at its upper end closed by a plug 4. Spring rings 6 in the head 3 prevent unintentional displacement of the tubes. Balls 7 in holes in the head 3 are pressed radially outwardly against the walls of the outer tube by a cone 8 to secure the two tubes in adjusted position. The cone 8 is mounted on a pressure rod 9 which transmits ground pressure directly to the cone to close the clamp. A foot 10 directly connected to the end of the pressure rod has a portion 10<SP>1</SP> slidable in the lower end of the tube 2. A spring 11 acting on the other end of the pressure rod displaces the rod and control cone when ground pressure is absent, thus holding the clamp coupling open.
