722,819. Friction grip fastenings. MEILI, J. R. Dec. 27, 1951 [June 8, 1951], No. 30211/51. Class 44. [Also in Groups X, XXIV and XXX] A telescoping adjustable tube 3, 4 for a mine prop or for a prop for ceiling shuttering, scaffolding, &c., is locked in any desired adjusted position by an elliptical ring 1 tilted against the inclined upper rim 5 of the outer tube 4 by a spring 9 stressed by a lever 12 so that one or two internal sharp edges inside the ring grip the inner tube 3. The lever 12 is moved past dead centre position against the prop in order to hold the spring in tension. In the lower end of the prop is fixed a plug 21 guiding a screwed spindle 19 on which the prop is mounted and moved along the spindle to adjust its position by a nut 23.
