Abstract

Class 82 (2) In the hydraulic separation of impurities from grain, the carrier liquid and the grain are conveyed together past deflectors which produce an undulatory wave-like motion therein. In the form shown, water is supplied by a valve-controlled inlet 2, and grain by an adjustable inlet 5, to a treatment chamber having adjustable, staggered deflectors 6, inlet and outlet gate valves 7, 8, and a water-pipe 9 with oblique nozzles 10. Stones and other heavy impurities fall into funnels 11 leading to a conduit 12 with an ejector 17, light impurities pass through an outlet 15 assisted by a spray appliance 16, whilst the clean grain passes through an opening 13. The treatment chamber may be fitted with observation windows and illuminating means.
