[Also in Group XXIX] A ground glass cone and socket pipe joint for providing a seal in glassware apparatus subjected to vacuum, includes either on the outside of the cone or the inside of the socket at least one annular groove charged with grease, one of said grooves being disposed near the larger end of the joint. As shown, an annular groove 3 is formed in a tubular cone 1 and charged with grease before insertion in socket 2.
