Abstract
703,705. Aerials. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 6, 1952 [March 1, 1951], No. 4950/51. Class 40 (7) An aerial system comprises a single length of conductive rod or tube shaped to form a folded unipole with one limb extended to afford an effective earth. The earth extension may be further continued to provide one or more directors and/or reflectors. A metal tube 1, half an inch in diameter, is bent into inverted U shape having limbs 2 and 3 and one limb extended to provide a horizontal portion 5 providing an effective earth. The aerial is supported on top of a mast 6 by means secured to the portion 5. A reflector 7 coplanar with the limbs 2 and 3 may be formed by a further extension 7 of the tube and the tube may be closed by a plug 8. A concentric feeder 9, 10 may pass up the mast into the interior of the tube and be led to the open end of limb 2. The outer conductor 9 is there connected to the end of limb 3 as shown and the inner conductor 10 to the end of limb 2. A protective insulating member 12 may be moulded in position over the connections. Fig. 2 shows how a single length of rod or tube can be shaped to form a unipole with a director and a reflector and Fig. 3 shows an arrangement with three reflectors, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). It is stated that the feeder may be led straight across from the portion 5 to the end of limb 2 instead of passing along the limbs of the unipole. Specification 438,506 is referred to.
