Abstract

706,588. Aerials. W. A. S. P. ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Dec. 12, 1952 [Dec. 11, 1951], No. 28956/51. Class 40 (7) An aerial assembly comprises two quarter wavelength aerial elements A, B arranged end to end and secured in a junction box D, a reflector or director C connected to but insulated from the free ends of the elements, the elements and reflector or director forming a closed eliptical, circular or multi-sided figure. A feeder E from the junction-box D extends radially, diametrically, or diagonally of the closed figure. The reflector or director may consist either of a single member or of two like members secured to each other by a bracket and bolts c', the whole unit being 5 per cent to 10 per cent longer or shorter than the aerial unit. The ends of the aerial elements may be connected to the reflector or director by strips c of polystyrene or other insulating material to one of which support means C' may be fixed so as to suspend the aerial as in a house loft, Fig. 1 (not shown). Where the feeder extends radially to the centre of the assembly it may be supported there by an insulating member extending from one of the strips c or between both of the strips c. A coaxial feeder may be used the outer conductor of which is earthed at the receiver.
