Abstract

1329338 Aerials INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 19 April 1971 [9 March 1970] 22930/71 Heading H4A In a discone aerial comprising a main conical element 2 and a disc element 9, which are respectively connected to the outer and inner conductors 5, 6 of a central coaxial feeder 4, an auxiliary conical element 20 is coaxially disposed between the other elements, and is also connected to the outer conductor of the feeder. The apex portions of both conical elements are adjacent the underside of the disc element and, as described, the inner surface 11 of the outer conductor 5 of the feeder 4 is continuous with the outer surface 21 of the auxiliary conical element 20, whilst the outer surface 12 of said conductor is continuous with the inner surface 13 of the main conical element 2. The flare angles of the auxiliary and main conical elements may be, respectively, greater than, and less than 60 degrees. The slant length of the auxiliary conical element may be less than that of the main conical element. The arrangement is stated to improve frequency coverage.
