Abstract

703,458. Axial-flow fans. STURTEVANT ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and WHITE, W. G. Nov. 28, 1952 [Nov. 28, 1951], No. 27927/51. Class 110 (1) In an axial flow fan, a member 12 for adjusting the pitch of the blades is disposed within the hub and carries radially projecting pins 10, each of which engages in a slot formed eccentrically in a flange 9 of one of the blade s ubs 8, so that axial adjustment of the member 12 effects simultaneous adjustment of the pitch of all the blades. The parts 3, 4 of the hub are secured together by bolts 5 which pass through holes in the member 12 to prevent it from rotating The member 12 is adjusted axially by means of a screw 15 which has an adjusting nut 16 keyed to it. After adjustment, a locking nut 17 is tightened. The axial movement of member 12 is limited by engagement of its flange 11 with the inner walls of the hub. Each stub 8 is of steel, screwed and pinned into the root 7 of an aluminium alloy blade.
