Abstract
664,171. Screw fans. WOODS OF COLCHESTER, Ltd., and DALY, B. B. Jan. 27 1950 [Jan. 27,1949], No. 2294/49. Class 110(i) An aerofoil section blade for an axialflow fan is of twisted form but is so shaped that its leading and trailing edges lie in a small number of multihedrally related planes, whereby it can be die-cast in a two-part die split on the said planes. The blade form as viewed in Fig. 1 is symmetrical about a radial line CL. Those parts of the leading edge LE and trailing edge TE lying below a line 1-2 lie in a plane containing the line CL. The parts above the line 1-2 lie in a plane which intersects the first plane along the line 1-2. The line 1-2 may be inclined in the opposite direction, so that all or most of the leading edge is in the radial plane, the outer part of the trailing edge then being in the other plane. The die may be split on three planes, comprising a radial plane intersected by two other planes, so that the leading edge is inclined forwards and the trailing edge is inclined backwards when the blade is viewed at 90 degrees to Fig. 1. The blade may be mounted for adjustment of pitch as in Specification 638,856, and may be of aluminium alloy cast under gravity pressure
