Abstract
1,186,309. Mills. ASBESTOS GRADING EQUIPMENT CO. (SOUTH AFRICA) (PTY.) Ltd. 26 Nov., 1968 [6 Dec., 1967], No. 56123/68. Heading B2A. A mill, particularly for asbestos, comprises a casing 1, Fig. 1, with a stator drum 4 open at the inlet and closed at the outlet end of the mill, an air inlet 3 and a material inlet 2. Vanes 7 on the stator 4 impart rotational movement to air which emerges from slots 6 between the vanes. Material to be processed is supplied to an annular space between the casing wall and the peripheral wall of the stator. An axial outlet duct 8 from the casing is at the opposite end to the air inlet and is adjustable in a sleeve 15. A vaned rotor 10 extends on a shaft 9 into the casing, and comprises blades 11 between concave annular shrouds 12, 13. Air may be introduced into and discharged from the mill by pressure and suction fans, and is supplied tangentially to the cone-shaped inlet 3 so as to emerge from the slots 6. This causes impact of the particles against each other and against the casing wall. The fines leave the mill and oversize, due to the rotor action is either retained for further reduction or may be discharged via a duct 14.
