Abstract
700,657. Mounting bearings. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NœRNBERG AKT.-GES. Dec. 17, 1951 [Dec. 28, 1950], No. 29546/51. Class 12(1) [Also in Group XXVII] Single piece bearing housings 11, for supporting a shaft mounting rotary valves 3 and 4 giving supplementary control to the exhaust ports 9, 10, of a two stroke Diesel engine, are recessed into the cylinder jacket and the exhaust piping 14 so that the valves, shaft, and bearing assemblies may be bolted by means of lugs 15, 16 as a unit to the jacket with a minimum of aligning work. Accurate spacing between the valves is maintained by sleeves 5, 6, formed with labyrinth collars 7, 8, which prevent loss of grease from the bearing, and the exhaust piping is fixed to 'the housings. The housings are formed with cavities 12 through which a cooling medium flows, and the unit is mounted with a gas tight fit on the cylinder jacket.
