Abstract

A solid pulverulent phosphating agent comprises a mixture of sodium sulphate and phosporic acid; it may be formed by mixing anhydrous sodium sulphate with phosphoric acid, by mixing di- or tri-sodium phosphate with sulphuric acid, or by mixing mono-sodium phosphate with sodium sulphate and sulphuric acid. Oxidizing agents, such as sodium nitrate, chromic acid or sodium bichromate, may be included.
