Abstract

Fluorine-free dicalcium phosphate bonded with acidic calcium-containing phosphatic material, preferably mono-calcium phosphate, to give a product with CaO/P2O5 ratio of 1.55/1.0 to 1.95/1.0 is usually prepared by mixing the phosphatic solution with dicalcium phosphate of particle size less than 80 mesh and drying the mixture, e.g. between 90-120 DEG C. The phosphatic solution may be the product of treatment of superphosphate. The phosphatic solution usually has a CaO/P2O5 ratio of 0.2/1.0 to 1.0/1.0. Specification 785,016 describes a similar method using solutions of free acids as bonding agents.
