Abstract
696,894. Scaffold clamps. KWIKFORM, Ltd. May 7, 1951 [May 8, 1950], No. 11331/50. Class 20(ii) A scaffold clamp comprises two jaws 13, 23 hinged together by a pivot 22 and has a clamping screw 16, engaging the scaffold tube 10 by means of a pressure piece 17 and the jaw 23 is arranged so that the scaffold tube must take the jaw 23 with it into the operative clamped position and into the inoperative position, with the tube in engagement with the seating 24 of the jaw. This is ensured by a circumferential extension 26 on the jaw 23 which prevents the tube being inserted between itself and the end 19 of the jaw 13 without moving the jaw 23 to operative position. The length of the extension 26 in relation to the length of the slot 29 engaging the pivot 22 prevents the jaw 23 moving to inoperative position without the tube. The slot 29 allows the clamping screw 16 to move the jaw 13 bodily and the hook 28 into engagement with a securing pin 20 on the jaw 13. The jaw 13 is. cut away adjacent the extension 26 to permit the engagement of the latter with the tube. A nose 31 limits the opening movement of the jaw 23 which it holds in a position as a rest for the scaffold tube. The jaw 13 may be pivoted by a pin 14 or fixed: at right-angles to a similar clamp.
