Abstract

693,434. Bunghole bushes. SYMPSON, A. C April 6, 1951 [April 11, 1950], No. 8881/50. Class 21. A tapping bush adapted to screw into a preformed countersunk hole in a cask comprises a tubular body having an external flange 2 and a tapered male screw thread 1 engageable with the outer coned portion of the hole, terminating in a plain flared extension 4 fitting snugly within the parallel portion of the hole. The bush bore has an internal preformed or machined flange 3, and the inner end of the bush is chamfered to the outer peripheral surface at 5 to form a sharp rear edge at 6, avoiding the formation of an abrupt shoulder against which sediment may collect.
