Abstract

693,380. Feeding webs. MASCHINENFABRIK RUTI AKT.-GES. VORM. C. HONEGGER. Oct. 31, 1950 [Nov. 1, 1949], No. 26512/50. Class 100(i) [Also in Group IX] A take-up mechanism is so arranged that the cloth may be wound directly on to the take-up roller, or, by the addition of extra members, on to a cloth roller after passing round the take-up roller. In the first arrangement, a roller pressing on the take-up roller is moved as the roll of cloth increases in diameter and maintains the linear rate of take-up constant. In the first arrangement also, a cam 2 on a shaft 1 rocks an arm 17 by a linkage comprising members 5, 6, 7, 10, 12 and a block 14. The rocking of the arm 17 rotates a ratchet wheel 19 on a casing 20 by means of a pawl and a wheel 29 on the casing drives the take-up roller 28 through gearing 30-37. When the diameter of the cloth roll increases, a roller 26 on an arm 25 is moved and a segment 22 on an arm 24 raises the block 14 to decrease the rotation of the ratchet wheel 19 and alter the rate of take-up. The movement of the arm 17 can also be adjusted by movement of a roller 7 in a slot 8 in the member 10. In the second arrangement, Fig. 2, in which the rate of take-up is not automatically controlled, an arm 43 carries two rollers 44 round which the cloth passes and the arm 43 is pivoted on a lever 42 and is urged by a spring 45 against the roller 28. The cloth is wound on a cloth roller 40 driven from the gear 37 by an intermediate gear 38 and a gear 39. The members 42-45 are easily detachable to produce the assembly shown in Fig. 1.
