635,511. Knitting-machines. BLACKBURN & SONS, Ltd., G., and TOWERS, E. J. Nov, 29, 1947, No. 31614. [Class 74 (ii)] An elastic yarn feeding device for a circular machine comprises two rotary geared wheels 11, 12 between which the yarn is fed, and a wheel 10, for rotating the geared wheels, frictionally driven from a revolving plate 1, the wheels 10 . . . 12 being mounted in a bracket 6 slidably supported so that the wheel 10 can be moved towards and away from the centre of the plate 1 to vary the speed of the geared wheels and the rate of feeding the yarn. The wheel 10 is supported in the bracket 6 under the influence of a spring 20, which urges it into contact with the plate 1, and is also mounted to drive the shaft of the wheel 11. The wheel 12 is secured on a lever 13 pivoted to the bracket 6 and is urged into mesh with the wheel 11 by a spring 15. A threaded shaft 21 is adapted to engage the bracket 6 and is rotated by pawl and ratchet mechanism, controlled from a pattern drum or chain, to move the bracket and wheel 10 towards or away from the centre of the plate 1 and thereby vary the rate of delivery of the yarn.
